John Macaskill, Managing Director, joined Groton in March 2005 and focuses his efforts on alternative investments, including private equity. Mr. Macaskill is a General Partner in a number of private equity and real estate funds. Mr. Macaskill has spent the last thirty years in the financial services industry in New York and London, after starting his career as an accountant in Scotland. He spent a total of fourteen years at JP Morgan Chase and its predecessor firms. Mr. Macaskill joined Chemical Bank, a predecessor of JP Morgan Chase, in London in 1977 and was transferred to New York in 1982. He rejoined JP Morgan Chase as a Managing Director in 1993 and remained with the firm until 2000. During his time at JP Morgan Chase, he was responsible for a number of different activities, including their origination of Yankee bond issuers. From 1984 until 1993, Mr. Macaskill was employed at Bankers Trust Co. in New York where he was a Managing Director and held a number of additional roles, including heading the Commodity Finance Group, the Commodity Derivatives Group and the Insurance Derivatives Group. Mr. Macaskill serves as a Director to the National Museum of Scotland's American Board. Mr. Macaskill is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Luis E. Rinaldini, Managing Director, founded Groton in 2003. Since then, among the companies that Mr. Rinaldini has advised are: AmBev in its $11 bn merger with Interbrew and Royalty Pharma in its $1 bn recapitalization. He was formerly a Vice Chairman and Global Head of Telecom Mergers & Acquisitions at Credit Suisse First Boston. Mr. Rinaldini joined CSFB in 2001 from Lazard, where he was the Senior Managing Director in charge of the Telecom Group as well as the firm's Latin American efforts. Mr. Rinaldini joined Lazard in 1980 and became a partner (later Managing Director) in 1985. During his years at Lazard, Mr. Rinaldini led teams which completed a number of landmark transactions including the acquisitions of RCA by GE, RJR by KKR, MCI by WorldCom, Ernst & Young Consulting by Cap Gemini, and the merger of Warner Communications and Time. Mr. Rinaldini also directed capital-raising transactions of $1 billion or more for Comcast, Equant, Time Warner and Vivendi. Mr. Rinaldini graduated Cum Laude from Princeton University and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Christopher McGhee, Managing Director, joined Groton Partners in 2008, prior to that he was President of MMC Securities Holdings Inc. — the investment banking arm of Marsh MacLennan. He has a BA from Oberlin College. Mr. McGhee is based in California.
Michael Yon, Managing Director, joined Groton Partners in 2008, prior to that he was Global Head of placements for Fortis. Prior to that he was at JP Morgan and its heritage banks. Mr. Yon has an MBA from New York University and an engineering degree from the University of Delaware.
Elena Baturovich, Vice President, joined Groton Partners in August 2006. Prior to joining Groton Partners, Ms. Baturovich worked with Kelly Services and Gildia of Masters, where she focused her efforts on mergers and acquisitions activities and developing and executing business strategies. Ms. Baturovich received a B.S. with honors from the University of Economics and Engineering in Russia in 1998, and an M.B.A. from Duke University in 2006.
Thibaut Denonain, joined Groton Partners in 2016. Prior to joining Groton Partners, Mr. Denonain worked with ODDO Securities in Paris. Mr. Denonain received a B.S. in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the University of Paris II - Pantheon Assas in 2012, and a Master's Degree in Finance from NEOMA Business School in 2015.
